April 2019

Serviced apartments are fast becoming a popular choice for leisure and business travellers in India. It provides a place to live rather than just sleep, they’re the ideal accommodation solution. They are fully furnished apartment available for a short-term or long-term stay, providing hotel-like amenities. Companies frequently use serviced apartments to host professionals who may be on a local or international work assignment. Although serviced apartments are primarily occupied by business executives and travellers, they are also available to the general public. Serviced apartments offer facilities much like an apartment hotel but provide more space, convenience and privacy. Serviced apartments give guests the flexibility to live the way they want to. They can cook for themselves, or dine out at a restaurant. They can entertain guests in the living space, or conduct meetings with clients. This serviced apartment is clubbed with amenities that are open to the public as well as the occupants of the apartment. This includes a restaurant (along with a bar), Gym/fitness centre, sauna/spa, swimming pool, meeting/conference rooms, library and certain sports amenities like Tennis court, TT along with an arcade games area. The idea is to ultimately devise a built form that provides each occupant with an exclusive and customised experience. The intention is to integrate both these realms ( serviced apartments and public recreational centre) while allowing privacy for both the spheres and also keeping in mind the possibility of future expansion that can take place. Some of the other challenges the needs to be addressed include having a serviced apartment that gives guests the flexibility to live the way they want to and use the space in terms that suit them, Providing a view into the varthur lake, division of the different functional zones in a vertical format and amalgamation of the structure and services into the volume in an effective way. Primarily a sense of tranquillity is desired at the same time letting the building become a positive contribution to the urban fabric by respecting the context and surrounding along with the climate.
